Before the Torrey Canyon was piled up on Seven Stones a senior police man, chief inspector I think, told me to “Be on your way before I get you under the Litter Act!”. He was looking at the liquid mess on Norfolk road and as usual I was embarrassed by it. It didn’t come from pushrod tube but via main bearing and primary chaincase. However our bikes are a disgrace and it wasn’t necessary either in 1930s let alone late 1960s.
Even if a Trident leaks from all 4 tubes it isn’t really a lot because there isn’t much at the top of engine and a quick mop round soon after stopping will limit mess. The trouble with my 1967 era travel was a truly daft set of faults in the drawing office and a reservoir of oil in primary determined to act as water over a weir. Also when being quizzed by Plod I didn’t feel I could be squatting and mopping up something which wasn’t a decent bike new. Your photo implies being at home. I won’t comment on the heart shaped dish!
Disgracefully my 1990 car leaks after every trip, ohc means plenty up top and the head gasket leaks. I will not bother to set about curing it
