        Hi,

Does anyone on the forum know if there are different centre stand springs, I have a 1969 Mk1 but can’t seem to get the spring correct, it is always slack when off the stand.

I have bought a few new ones from different sources and also bought another stand, the stand still hangs down when I take the bike off it.

        Anyone help with this problem?

Can you post a picture of it? I have changed the stand on my mark 1 and noticed there was the provision for two lower points for the anchoring hook.

          I’ll compare it with mine.

              Hi Rod,

Thanks for taking the time to send me the photos much appreciated.

I have attached a couple of photos of my stand and as you can see it looks ok when on the stand but doesn’t pick the stand up when off it, this is a new stand I bought as the original one was a little worn and it also did the exact same as this one IE didn’t pick the stand up.

Not sure what is going on as all seems ok.

I compared the pictures of yours and mine and both springs and stands look exactly the same.

I can only guess there may be  a fault with your spring and maybe it’s been stretched previously. Take it off and see if the coils shrink and touch each other  when not under any tension, if not then buy a new spring and all should be ok.
